Nickel allergy is a type of contact dermatitis and causes a skin reaction such as itchiness and rash after exposure to nickel or items containing the metal.
The early European studies on nickel allergy reported that 10% of women and 1% of men were found to have the skin trouble upon contacting with nickel. Based on these findings, EU enacted legislation to regulate nickel for the products that can be contacted on skin or body parts, which was applied to numerous items such as jewelries, zippers, watches, scissors, etc.
KPP Zipper acknowledged the need of regulating the nickel content and has been supplying Ni-free zippers to the market.
Even a small amount of heavy metals, once accumulated in the body, is difficult to get excreted and is known to cause chronic side effects and thus very dangerous. KPP Zipper strictly implements the regulation policy for lead and other heavy metals.
Cadmium is a toxic heavy metal, and it could cause severe disabilities if exposed to cadmium and its compound for a long period of time. One of the high-profile cases for cadmium poisoning was "Itai-itai disease" and this could cause the bones to be weakened and later lead to fractures if contracted with this disease.
KPP Zipper promotes the well-being of consumers and manufacturers and therefore continues to practice cadmium free policy.
